![]() Trees & Conifers ![]() Most UK native trees are deciduous. Many have ornamental blossoms, some have berries. Like their smaller cousins – the shrubs - they create a natural habitat for a lot of wildlife.
They provide height, shelter, shade, privacy, food, raw materials and boundless interest. We offer a great choice of ornamental and fruit trees. Something for everyone. But remember - their natural instinct is to grow. Few are naturally ‘small’, so when you look at a tree which stands 2m (6’ 6”) tall in a nursery or garden centre, check to see how tall they’re likely to get when they reach maturity and always provide the space they need. For the smaller garden consider compact top-worked specimens which will remain 3 - 6 ' in height, or a slow growing Japanese Maple.
Conifers, by contrast come in all shapes & sizes...
The decorative dwarf forms may never grow taller than 20cm (8”). Others such as the infamous x Cupressocyparis leylandii will ultimately achieve a stately 15m (49’) in less than 20 years. We offer conifers from both ends of the spectrum and everywhere in between … but maybe not so tall!
Nearly all conifers are evergreen, providing permanence and structure to a garden or rockery, even through the coldest winter.
